Will SUMYOK Electric RV Solar SlideRack System fit my vehicle and existing roof rack?

It is engineered as a universal mounting system. It seamlessly installs on:

Vehicles: Class B campervans (Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster), Class A/C motorhomes, truck campers, overland trailers, and cargo trailers.

Roof Types: Flat roofs, slightly curved roofs (using our included multi-height curved brackets), and standard roof racks.

What solar panel sizes and weights are compatible?

• Width: E-SlideR800: Fits solar panel widths between 750–800 mm (29.5"–31.5"), typically standard 150W–250W solar panels. E-SlideR1150: Fits solar panel widths between 1100–1150 mm (43.3"–45.3"), designed for full-size 300W–600W solar panels.
• Length:  Accommodates lengths from 1200 mm to 2400 mm (47"–94.5"). (Note: For solar panels exceeding 1900 mm / 74.8", our Anti-Sag Cross Beam reinforcement are required to eliminate deflection and vibration).
• Frame Thickness: Standard 30 mm to 35 mm (1.2"–1.4") rigid aluminum-framed solar panels.
• Weight: E-SlideR800 series supports up to 44 lbs (20 kg) per solar panel (88 lbs / 40 kg in total); E-SlideR1150 series supports up to 71 lbs (32 kg) per solar panel (142 lbs / 64 kg in total).

Are solar panels included?

No. The SUMYOK Electric RV Solar SlideRack System is a complete mounting and motorized deployment hardware system. Solar panels are sold separately, giving you the complete freedom to choose your preferred solar panel brand (e.g., Rich Solar, Renogy, BougeRV, REC, SunPower).

How does the system work?

Wireless RF Remote: One-touch deployment and retraction from anywhere around your rig. A single master remote can pair and control up to 6 independent racks individually or simultaneously via the master ON/OFF button.

Weatherproof In-Cab Switch: Mount the included push-button switch box inside your van cabin or dashboard for convenient wired control.

ACC Ignition Safety Wire: When spliced into your vehicle's key-on / ignition circuit, the system automatically detects when the engine starts and safely retracts the panels before you drive away.

Does the system automatically retract when I start the engine?

Yes! The control module includes a built-in ACC/ignition safety wire. Once spliced into your vehicle's key-on circuit, the system automatically senses engine start and safely retracts the panels before you drive off.

Can I manually retract the panels if 12V power drops or the motor fails?

Yes. Every motorized unit features an Emergency Manual Override. By simply removing the quick-release cotter pin and clevis pin on the actuator bracket, the motor disengages in seconds. You can then manually slide the rack closed and lock it with the built-in spring-loaded travel latch.

What power supply does the system require?

The motorized system is engineered for ultra-low power consumption and operates directly on DC 12V to 24V:
12V System: Rated operating current is just 1.1A (with a momentary peak current of 6A occurring only during the startup or stopping instant).
24V System: Rated operating current is just 0.6A (with a momentary peak current of 4A during startup or stop).

Can I wire my solar panels in series or parallel with the system?

We strongly recommend PARALLEL wiring (or connecting to independent MPPT channels).
Parallel wiring ensures that each panel operates independently. Even if the lower panel is stowed while driving, the upper fixed panel continues delivering 100% of its full power to your battery bank without being dragged down by string shading. (Series wiring is also possible if your charge controller requires higher voltage headroom for 24V/48V battery banks).

Will shading on one solar panel affect the performance of the entire system?

Not when wired in parallel! Furthermore, when fully deployed at camp, the lower panel slides completely out to the side or front with zero physical overlap, ensuring both panels receive 100% unobstructed direct sunlight.

Will the added weight affect my vehicle's fuel economy (MPG)?

No noticeable impact. The rack itself is precision-crafted from lightweight 6063 aluminum, weighing under 40 lbs (18 kg). Together with two panels, the total added roof weight is less than 85 lbs—less weight than a standard spare tire! Real-world cross-country highway tests by van builders confirm zero measurable drop in fuel economy (MPG).

Will the system rust or corrode over time?

Built for long-term outdoor exposure:

• Hardware & Screws: Marine-grade 304 Stainless Steel (corrosion-resistant).
• Slide Tracks & Ball Bearings: High-tensile Q235 Carbon Steel finished with Electro-Zinc Plating to provide an initial galvanic corrosion barrier while withstanding heavy dynamic rolling loads.
• Maintenance Tip: For dusty trails or coastal salt air, an occasional 30-second spray of Dry PTFE (Teflon) Lube keeps the ball bearings gliding like glass without attracting sand or road grit!
